Development Matrix Training Courses approved by the Ministry of Communication Kuwait:

  • 1. Ship Security Awareness.
    The main contents of this course are: An Overview of the ISPS Code, Ship Security Plan, Understanding of Marsec Levels, Security Incidents and Mitigation procedures, Access Control & Gangway Log , Training Drills.

  • 2. Safety, Health and Environmental Awareness.
    The main contents of this course are: Health & Safety in the work place, Incident &Accident prevention, Correct use & care of Personal Protective Equipment, Marine Environmental Awareness – Need of, Garbage Management & Pollution Control on board.

  • 3. Marine Risk Assessment.
    The main contents of this course are: Understanding of: Risk Assessment, Hazard and Risk Identification, Risk Assessment Process. Creating risk assessments and continual risk assessment during the work.

  • 4. Code of Safe Working Practices.
    The main contents of this course are: An introduction to the Code of Safe Working Practices for Merchant Seamen, what the Code contains, how to use it, when it should be used and why it should be used.

  • 5. ISO 14001 Environmental management Systems.
    This course covers the knowledge and understanding of Marine Environment Protection, ISO 14001:2004, Environment Management System and its application.

  • 6. OHSAS 18001 Occupational health and Safety.
    The main contents of this course are: Basic Elements of OHSAS 18001 – Connection with MLC 2006 – Key Requirements – OHSAS 18001 clauses – System Documentation – Occupational Health topics – Risk Mitigation Policy.

  • 7. Training for Trainers.
    This course covers the delivery of training in the competence standards required by the IMO Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978 as amended, Regulation 1/6 and STCW Code Section A – 1/6, Training and assessment for On-Board Trainers.

  • 8. Time Management.
    The main contents of this course are: Work Smarter, Take Control of Your Workload, Beating Procrastination, Prioritised To-Do Lists, Activity Logs, Action Plan, Managing Interruptions, Successful Delegation, Goal Setting and Scheduling.

  • 9. Accident Investigation.
    The main contents of this course are: Purpose of Investigation, Preventing recurrence, Initial Survey, Information gathering, Analysis of Evidence, Cause Determination, Root Cause Analysis, Time lines, Report Structure, Recommendations and Action monitoring.

  • 10.Food, Hygiene and Sanitation.
  • The main contents of this course are: Food Handling – Storage & Preparation, Personal Hygiene in the galley and food handling areas. Sanitation – Pest Control, Cleanliness in Food Handling areas and on board.
