Sheikh Talal Al-Khalid Al-Sabah, Chief Executive Officer of Kuwait Oil Tanker Company, said the New Liquefied Gas Filling Plant in Umm Al-Aish is the first Plant in the Middle East using Flex speed Technology that allows increasing or decreasing production speed.

Al-Khaled indicated in a press statement issued by the Company today that Flex Speed is the latest LPG technology in filling liquefied gas cylinders at Filling Centers so that the Company can control the Plant's production capacity.

He said that the service of the plant which started last March, is a new significant milestone of Kuwait Oil Tanker Company, key addition to Kuwait track record full of achievements and developments and a source of pride to KOTC and all employees at the oil and gas sector.

"The Plant has been constructed on an area of 150,000 square meters to enhance production capacity of the State of Kuwait providing 15 million cylinders per annum i.e. the equivalent of 160 percent of the production capacity of the existing old Plant in Shuaiba Industrial Area", Al-Khaled added.

He noted that by commencing operation at the New Plant, the production capacity of the two Plants will be sufficient to meet the demands of the local market until the year 2030, as well as doubling the strategic reserves of liquefied natural gas of the country to reach more than fifty days. He also indicated that the aim of Umm Al-Aish Plant is to increase production capacity to meet the growing demand in the local market and support Shuaiba Plant.

He said the project contains six buried tanks to guarantee high levels of efficiency and meet the international standards of safety and quality, with a storage capacity equivalent to 2,350 cubic meters for each tank.

Al-Khaled also indicated that Umm Al-Aish project encompasses maintenance workshops, storages, office buildings and a fleet for gas transfer. He stressed that KOTC steadily seeks to support the strategic plan and achieve the goals of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.
