KOTC Fleet - On Constant Alert and Continuous Training

A joint effort training exercise was conducted between Kuwait Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defence, General Department of Coast Guard, the Directorate General of Special Security Forces, US Special Forces Teams and Kuwait Oil Tanker Company. The exercise training scenario was a security breach whereby pirates had infiltrated the KOTC vessel “Hadiyah” and the joint team would board and re-secure the vessel and hostages. The exercise was successfully conducted in record time.

This exercise is the second in a series of joint training sessions between KOTC and Kuwait Defence Departments. A similar training drill was successfully conducted in 2013.

​"In line with directives from the Deputy Premier, Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, the Ministry of Interior conducted a drill to rescue hostages inside oil tankers.

The ministry collaborated with Kuwait Oil Tankers Company (KOTC), Ministry of Defense, General Department of Coast Guard, the Directorate General of Special Security Forces and US Special Forces Teams.

The Undersecretary of Interior Ministry Lieutenant General Sulaiman Al-Fahad attended the event.

Meanwhile, the chiefs of GCC Land Forces held the 14th coordinating meeting recently in Kuwait to discuss cooperation and joint defense drills and exercises in future. Representatives of Land Forces from the GCC countries and a delegation from the GCC General Secretariat attended the meeting.

The Chairman of the meeting and Deputy Chief of Defense Staff Lt General Mohammad Al-Khodhar opened the meeting by welcoming the participants. He affirmed that such a meeting is aimed to enhance the level of alertness of the Land Forces in combating war in the region." - Quoted Verbatim from The Arab Times Newspaper
